Recent Music Purchases

Hello, dear reader.
Recently (as in yesterday) I bought three albums I'd been pining over for months. I had wanted to buy the actual CDs of all three but had to buy digital copies because no stores nearby stocked them.

After buying these albums I realised they were all of different genres. And I mean very different.

1. Grimes - Visions

Genre: Electronic
First off I purchased Grimes' album Visions. I had been listening to previews of her songs since early December and had been itching for this album ever since. It was just as I'd expected. Absolutely brilliant. Her wispy vocals and he layering on her tracks is amazing. I just love it. Now, I know Grimes isn't suited to everyone's tastes but, for me, she is one of the best musicians at the moment.

2. Loreen - Heal

Genre: Dance

Last year's Eurovision winner is one of, if not the best dance pop singers I have ever heard. Her entry into Eurovision entitled Euphoria was a massive hit not only for her home country of Sweden but in many other European nations as well. I particularly like the first track on Heal - In my head. Her powerful vocals, dance beats and violin accompaniment on songs create really fun, interesting tunes. They're also splendid to dance to.

3. Hole - Celebrity Skin

Genre: Rock
After initially hearing about Hole via Rookie I didn't actually start listening to the band until this year (I'm a bit slow sometimes) but now I can see what all the hype was about. They are a good, traditional, rock band. Courtney Love (despite her controversies) is a perfect front woman for the band. Her voice portrays a lot of how she feels, her anger, disappointments, her trials in life, can all be identified in Hole's songs. Overall a great introduction to Hole for me (I am aware Celebrity Skin is not their first album).

So, that wraps up my current music splurge. I will definitely be having these albums on repeat for weeks and weeks.
